Remarks 'Pygmy', i.e., short, from Latin 'pygmaeus' from Greek 'pugmaios', i.e., dwarfish, from Greek 'pugme', i.e., fist as a measure of length from the elbows to the knuckles (p. 422 in Ref. 11979); 'whitefish', i.e., any of the various market fishes with white flesh that is not oily (p. 1345 in Ref. 11978).
