| Remarks | 'commun'; i.e., common, from Latin 'communis', i.e., of a group (Ref. 9404). The term remora was derived from the Latin name remora meaning hindrance as it was thought that the attachment of these fishes via their unique sucking-dics delayed ships (Ref. 528).
