| Remarks | Yellowfin bream are most abundant in estuaries but also inhabit inshore reefs and waters adjacent to ocean beaches and rocky headlands (Ref. 6390). They live in rivers upstream to the limit of brackish waters but rarely enter fresh waters (Ref. 6390). Postlarvae and juveniles mainly inhabit seagrass beds in shallow estuarine areas (Ref. 27246). Adults migrate from their feeding grounds to the spawning site (Ref. 6390). All mature male fish undertake the spawning migration but the proportion of mature females migrating to spawn increases as they age (Ref. 28262). |
