---|---|
Remarks | Occurred over a wide bathymetric range of 750-2900 m depth in Rockall Trough (Ref. 34143). Found on the continental slope and upper rise (Ref. 6606). May move offshore with age and spawn in the deep parts of its range. Off the eastern coast of United States, it is speculated that the population use the area only as feeding grounds with spawning taking place to the north. Feeds on invertebrates (Ref. 9319); such as crustaceans and squids. Parasite of the species is known to be Lophoura tetraphylla (copepod) (Ref. 5951). Found in water temperatures between 3.4 to 5.2°C (Ref. 128157). |

Association remarks | Shoaling assumed from otter trawl bulk catches in the Middle Atlantic Bight hypothesized as a feeding habitat for this species, and with the reproductive and larval portions of its life history completed in the northern part of this range (Ref. 41816). Also Ref. 9319. |
