Remarks | Compsaraia samueli has been collected from flooded beaches and deep river channels using deep seines in the Rio Amazonas near its confluence with the Rio Nanay near Iquitos, and from the Rio Iça using trawls (Cox Fernandes, 1995; Cox Fernandes et al., 2004). In the Iquitos region, the type series, which included sexually mature males and females, was collected during the periods of rising and high water (January–April). This corresponds with the typical pattern of apteronotids to breed during the early rising water phase (Crampton, 1996, 1998) (Ref. 80384). |
