Dorsal soft rays (total): 81-89; Anal soft rays: 60-65; Vertebrae: 42-43. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 81-89; A 60-65; moderately large eyes (2.3-2.9%SL); slender body, pointed snout, no cirri; cheeks with scales; no upper preopercular pore (occasionally a pore on one side); outer pseudoclasper broad-based, small, while the inner one small, anteriorly inclined flap; otolith length to height 2.1-2.3, with distinct postdorsal projection, otolith length to sulcus length 1.6-1.7, ostium length to cauda length 3.0-3.3; vertebrae 12 + 30-31 = 42-43 (Ref. 81230).
Description: Characterized by caudal rays 14-16; depth of body at origin of anal fin 13.7-16.9 (mean 15.3) % SL; anterior nostril high on snout, about one-third or less distance from lip to anterior rim of eye (Ref. 90102). |
