Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  7.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: occurs only in the Mississippi River and western Gulf drainages in western Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, and in eastern Louisiana as far east as the Mobile Bay drainage in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy runs of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).

Threat to humans:  harmless
