Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Geophaginae
Max. size:  4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 5.90000009536743, non-migratory
Distribution:  South America: known only from the type locality, Rio Manuripi in Bolivia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 15-16; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-7. The color pattern, seven dark red lines, and a characteristic arc at the connection between the postorbital stripe and the midlateral band distinguish this new species from all other known members of the genus Apistogramma. Lateral line 11-17/6-10.
Biology:  In typical black water river with loamy banks (Ref. 48504).
