Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 4 - 35 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: So far, known only from Ascension and St. Helena Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky areas with caves (Ref. 7321). Smaller specimens occasionally occur among rubble. Retiring and inactive during the day (Ref. 5288).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 23 March 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
