Dorsal spines (total): 20-20; Dorsal soft rays (total): 2-2; Anal spines: 11-11; Anal soft rays: 2-2; Vertebrae: 27-27. Posterior body scales with membranous flaps and ctenii, if present, very reduced, short and robust dorsal-and anal-fin spines, and the interradial membranes of the spinous dorsal fin weakly incised.
Description: Characterized by mostly black color except white mid-dorsal band on head from upper lip to dorsal-fin origin and narrow white margins on dorsal, anal and caudal fins; two lateral lines, dorsal lateral line 33-35 tubed scales, lower lateral line 17-20 tubes scales; sensory on dentary 4; without papillae present on head; depth of body at origin of dorsal fin 4.8-5.0 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
Eggs are guarded by the male parent (Ref. 205). |
