Family:  Latilidae (Deepwater tilefishes)
Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 90 - 612 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Maputo, Mozambique to Durban, South Africa; Mauritius and Reunion; off Madagascar (Ref. 11228).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-12. Body pink, with black vertical bars from behind opercle to near caudal fin; vertical fins yellowish (Ref. 5591).
Biology:  Found over mud bottoms. May inhabit burrows. Fished between 200 and 400 m (Ref. 5503).
