Family:  Latilidae (Deepwater tilefishes)
Max. size:  46 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,250.0 g; max. reported age: 12 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 30 - 200 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Central Honshu to the South China Sea. Also reported as far south as the Arafura Sea (Ref. 9819).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in the sublittoral zone on sandy mud bottoms (Ref. 11230). Most common of Japanese tilefishes (Ref. 559).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 27 January 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
