| Diagnosis: | Has a relatively narrow midlateral stripe (width about 1-1.5 scale rows); a plain dorsal fin; a distinct black submarginal stripe along each caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 27732); with rostral barbels only; small mental disk, shorter than wide (Ref. 12693). | |||
| Biology: | Inhabits rocky bottoms in fast flowing water of all sizes of rivers and streams. Feeds on periphyton, phytoplankton and some insects (Ref. 12693). | |||
