| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 11-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-9. The initial phase of this species is orange-red becoming nearly white ventrally. | |||
| Biology: | Occurs in small groups over lagoon patch reefs (Ref. 1602). Benthopelagic over coral and rubble (Ref. 58302). Feeds on zooplankton in the water column (Ref. 9710). | |||
