Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal soft rays: 6-6; Vertebrae: 22-22. This species can be distinguished by the following characters: midline of flank with a longitudinal series of relatively large black blotches, with size similar or larger than the size of orbit; with striated black spots from the snout tip to nuchal plate region, forming a somewhat marbled pattern; differs from C. difluviatilis by having a contact between the tip of the process of
the parieto-supraoccipital and nuchal plate; differs from C. habrosus by possessing a conspicuously thick transversal black bars on caudal-fin lobes; differs from its most similar congeners (C. carlae, C. ehrhardti, C. longipinnis, C. paleatus), by the absence of small plates on the ventral surface of the trunk; with a distinct rounded snout (Ref. 129023). |
