Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Cynoglossinae
Max. size:  31 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range - 450 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Kunene River, Namibia to Natal, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 103-110; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 81-88. Upper side brownish grey, with dark specks (Ref. 4418).
Biology:  Usually found at depths less than 100 m, but also recorded on the continental slope (Ref. 27121). Caught incidentally (Ref. 27121).

Threat to humans:  harmless
