Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 23-25; Vertebrae: 28-29. Small pelvic fin, its tip reaching anus and its length 4.7-5.6% SL in male and 4.1-5.3 in females; dorsum of male below dorsal fin with rounded blotches; dark blotches on the entire caudal fin of male; pectoral fin length of male 19.1-22.2% SL; longitudinal rows of spots on body of male pale golden to greenish golden anteriorly and light blue posteriorly; dorsal head profile of adult male slightly concave; lateral body stripes of male dark reddish brown; caudal fin of male without a bright blue zone along posterior margin of the fin; 11-13 supraorbital neuromasts and 1-3 neuromasts per scale of the lateral line (Ref. 42931).
