Distribution:  Asia: endemic to India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Presence of black band and a scarlet stripe from snout to mid-caudal; and an oblique black caudal fin band (Ref. 74592).
Biology:  Inhabits fast flowing hill streams (Ref. 41236). A herbivorous (Ref. 74596) and a gregarious fish which inhabits rocky pools with thick riparian vegetation (Ref. 74592).
