Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 166-219. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by the following set of characters: lateral line stripe extending from first perforated lateral line scale to the distal portion of caudal filament; with superior midlateral stripe with origin posterior to end of body cavity; anal-fin hyaline; caudal filament corresponding to 15.2-43.1% LEA; mouth subterminal; pectoral-fin rays ii,14-16; A 166-219; scale rows above lateral line at vertical through posterior tip of pectoral fin 10-13; lateral line scales 100-128; premaxillary teeth 22-28; dentary teeth 19-23; endopterygoid teeth 7-10; depth of posterodorsal expansion on infraorbitals 1 + 2 half as long as infraorbitals 1 + 2 length; basibranchial 1 unossified; precaudal vertebrae 13; length of coronomeckelian bone corresponding to 20% of Meckel's cartilage length (Ref. 132316).
