Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 25 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: southern Florida, USA and the Lesser Antilles.
Diagnosis:  Distinguished by having the following characteristics: presence of a dark blue horizontal band on an almost light body (Ref. 92840).
Biology:  Coral-dwelling goby (Ref. 51183). Found in groups near coral heads (Ref. 9710). Monogamous (Ref. 52884). Has been reared in captivity (Ref. 35408).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 01 March 2010 (B2ab(iii)) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
