Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.80000019073486 - 7.80000019073486; dH range: 6 - 20
Distribution:  Africa: found in Lake Victoria basin, Lake Rukwa basin, Pangani River, Bubu River and Malagarazi River (Ref. 27292) and Lake Kitangiri (Ref. 41366) in Tanzania. Also in Kenya (Ref. 52331) and in Malawa River in Uganda (Ref. 4903).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in lakes and streams, both temporary and permanent; feeds on insect larvae and bottom debris (Ref. 4903). Upstream spawning migrations reported from Lake Rukwa drainage (Ref. 27292).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 14 October 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
