Family:  Etmopteridae (Lantern sharks)
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed); 24 cm TL (female)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 300 - 1000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Guinea to Côte d'Ivoire; Nigeria to Angola (Ref. 247).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on the upper continental slopes. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). Utilized dried salted for human consumption and for fishmeal.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 31 August 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
