Family:  Schilbeidae (Schilbid catfishes)
Max. size:  38.2 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,350.0 g
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater; brackish, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in rivers, canals and tidal waters. Feed on small fish and insects. Oviparous, eggs are unguarded (Ref. 205). An excellent food fish.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 13 October 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
