Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: transitional waters off Baja California, equatorially to about 145°W. Elsewhere, in transitional waters between equatorial and central waters of the North and South Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 29-32; Vertebrae: 47-49. Branchiostegal rays: 8.
Biology:  Small, mesopelagic species of the open ocean (Ref. 36017). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36017).
