| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. This species is distinguished by the following characters: cephalic sensory-canal pore system lacking only the IT pore (Pattern 2); dorsal/anal fin-ray formula 8/8; pectoral-fin rays 16 or 17, all apparently unbranched (but broken ends); no fifth pelvic-fin ray; male urogenital papilla a flat rounded plate; lower half of pectoral-fin base with a dark spot; caudal peduncle or caudal-fin base without a dark spot; scales without black edges on pockets; caudal fin is not crossed by dark vertical bars; colour of head and body yellow with a peppering of small brown melanophores in life (Ref. 118500) | |||
