| Diagnosis: | This species is characterized by the following: eyes very small and not visible in ventral view; circumpeduncular scales 12; first gill arch with 6-7 gill rakers on lower limb; breast and belly with scales reduced or absent (Ref. 111064). Also characterized by the late development of the papillar beds on the mental disc, the papillar bed being only just differentiated at 5.0 cm SL and the highly unusual shape of the neural spines below the dorsal fin (Ref. 82680). | |||
