Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: Indonesia, New Guinea, New Ireland, Caroline Islands, New Caledonia, Fiji and Samoa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10
Biology:  Adults inhabit clear-flowing streams, usually within 5-10 km of the sea. Also found in freshwater but can live in marine waters and are occasionally found in mangroves and estuaries, especially during the wet season (Ref. 48637).
