Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Kinsuka (at the outflow of Pool Malebo), the middle Congo River near Kisangani, and Avokoko (Wagenia Falls area) in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 26192).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 32-32. Lips plicate; dorsal fin concave with 4 simple rays and 9 to 10 branched rays; snout rounded without transverse furrow; maxillary barbels more or less large, slightly visible externally; rostral barbels small, hidden in the rostral furrow; eyes in superolateral position; body with longitudinal dark brown stripes; genital orifice near the origin of the anal fin (Ref. 26192).
