Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  14 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 588 - 3400 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: widely distributed in the subarctic waters, including the Okhotsk and Bering seas.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-20. A single cheek photophore; luminous tissue at base of adipose fin (Ref. 559).
Biology:  Mesopelagic (Ref. 5572) at 0-200 m at night, 200-1000 m during day (Ref. 58302).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
