Distribution:  Cosmopolitan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 50-50; Anal soft rays: 38-38. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D I,50; A 38; pectoral rays 23; pelvic rays I,5; horizontal eye diameter is greater than 30% HL; dorsal-fin height on average 26.3% FL; pelvic-fin length on average 33.6% FL. Colouration: tongue generally purple; caudal fin is uniformly pigmented (Ref. 126789).
