Max. size:  5.52 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 30 - 65 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan (Ryukyus) and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 16-16; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: D2 I,16; A I,16; pectoral-fin rays 21-22; gill rakers 5-6 + 17; first dorsal fin is weakly to moderately incised between spines, taller than second dorsal. Colouration: first dorsal fin yellow-grey to yellow, basally purple with 1-4 rows of yellow spots; sides of body without an orange-red lateral stripe (Ref. 129594).
Biology:  Occurs singly or in small groups in silty areas, with sand or mud-bottom or low-relief reef at depths ranging from 30-60 m (Ref. 129594).
