Family:  Odacidae (Cales and weed-whitings)
Max. size:  35 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 1 - 15 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from Houtman Abrolhos, Western Australia to Angourie Point, northern New South Wales (probably southern Queensland).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs near the surface in high energy surf zones along rocky shores, these areas are often dominated by brown macroalgae.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 September 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
