Family:  Liparidae (Snailfishes)
Max. size:  14.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 150 - 1207 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Gulf of St. Lawrence, Canada south to the Gulf of Mexico.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 58-63; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 54-58. Head, fins and belly black; body paler, a dusky white, with small pigment spots (Ref. 12204). Lacks an adhesive disc and pelvic fins (Ref. 12204).
Biology:  Probably feeds on comb jellies, cnidarians, salps and crustaceans (Ref. 12204). Spawning believed to occur almost year round (Ref. 12204).
