Family:  Pentacerotidae (Armorheads), subfamily: Histiopterinae
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 260 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia including Tasmania.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs on the continental shelf, most commonly in depths less than 40 m (Ref. 9563). Feeds on brittle stars, polychaetes and brown algae (Ref. 2156).
