Family:  Poeciliidae (Poeciliids), subfamily: Poeciliinae
Max. size:  2.34 cm SL (male/unsexed); 3.97 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil in the drainages of the rio São João, rio Cubatão (Norte) and small adjacent drainages, which flows into the Baía de Guaratuba in Paraná State.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal soft rays: 9-10; Vertebrae: 32-32. Can be readily and autapomorphically distinguished by the appendix of the gonopodium greatly expanded in wing like projections. Adult males differ from their congeners by having pleural rib 7 longer than pleural rib 8 (Ref. 76852). Description: Pectoral fin with 6-7 branched rays; longitudinal series of scales 29-30; transverse series of scales 7 (Ref. 76852).
