Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 36-38. >Physoschistura absumbra is easily diganosed from all species of >Physoschistura by the absence of a suborbital lobe and by having a complete lateral line and a continuous lower jaw. It further differs from all congeners by the following characters: head depth at nape 13-14% SL; head length dorsally 23-25% SL, laterally 26-28% SL; body depth 15-17% SL; caudal-peduncle depth 13--4% SL; flank with 9-12 regular bars; basicaudal bar complete; and a maximum adult size of about 44 mm SL (Ref. 116525). | |||
Biology: | Collected from a small tributary, about 2 m wide and 30 cm deep at the sampling site, running into the Nangunhe River. Not encountered in the mainstem of the Nangunhe River. Co-occurred with two nemacheilids, Schistura cryptofasciata and S. disparizona, both were found in the mainstem (Ref. 116525). | |||
