Max. size:  2.54 cm SL (male/unsexed); 3.9 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 54 - 110 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic Ocean: northeastern Gulf of Mexico, off South Carolina.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 11-12; Vertebrae: 27-27. This species which occur from deep reefs have two anal-fin pterygiophores anterior to the first haemal spine; have an extensively scaled body; high anal-fin ray count; with papillae rows 5i and 5s connected as a single row (Ref. 113825).
Biology:  Occurs in deep reefs (Ref. 113825).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 09 October 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
