Max. size:  39.4 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 408.3 g
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan (except northern Hokkaido) through the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan, and coasts from Shanghai to Peihar and Hainan Island. Might occur as a rare visitor to the northern extreme of the Western Central Pacific.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit inlet waters and estuaries of rivers. Oviparous, eggs are pelagic and non-adhesive (Ref. 205). Used as food fish in Japan.
