Family:  Monacanthidae (Filefishes)
Max. size:  25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 7 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific. Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults usually found on muddy substrates with outcrops of algal reef, or among broad-leaved seagrasses. Young with floating Sargassum rafts and in shallow estuaries (Ref. 48637).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 July 2017 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
