Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Can be distinguished based on the following combination of the characters: scales on lateral line 31-33; head width 67-74% HL; head length 21-25% SL; eye diameter 25-30% HL; snout length 48-55% HL; absence of scales from its midventral region between pectoral fins; principal rays in the lower caudal-fin lobe 8; presence of a dark pigment blotch on the distal edge of the dorsal fin; presence of 2 or 3 dark, irregular vertical bars on the caudal fin; dorsal saddles extending 3-4 scales rows downwards from the dorsal surface, contacting the round to squarish dark blotches, arranged in a longitudinal row on flank; absence of a large post-epiphysial fontanelle; and dorsal fin with 9 rays (Ref. 79816). |
