Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 6 - 6.5; dH range: 8 - 15
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in ponds, streams and lakes in plains (Ref. 41236). Often found in rice fields. Enters brackish water. Feeds mainly on filamentous algae and blue-green algae (Ref. 6028).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 11 August 2019 Ref. (130435)
