Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 28-28. Distinguished by the combination of characters: 2nd dorsal fin rays modally I/9; body with 5 or 6 lateral blackish-brown blotches; and male with long filamentous rays in 1st dorsal fin and cheek with about 40 small rounded white spots (Ref. 33279). Anal fin with one simple and 7 branched rays (Ref. 43281). |
Inhabits headwaters with relatively fast water, in riffles, among large gravel. |
