Diagnosed from its congeners in Black Sea basin by the possession of the following characters: dorsal fin with 7½ branched rays; anal fin with 6½ branched rays; anus midway between pelvic and anal origins; absence of scales between pectoral bases; longitudinal epithelial crests on predorsal scales restricted to posterior scale margin (Ref. 59043). |
Inhabits main course of large rivers and main tributaries, in relatively deep water, with sand bottom and near riffles. Attains up to about 10 cm SL (Ref. 59043). |
