Distribution:  Asia: Nam Ngum basin, Laos.
Diagnosis:  Anterior nostril pierced on front side of a flap; processus dentiformis present; no median notch in upper lip, lower lip with median interruption; no median notch in lower jaw; caudal peduncle with elevated dorsal and ventral keels on posterior extremity, length 15.4 %SL, depth 9.4 %SL, 1.64 times in length; body depth 15.8 %SL; snout length 11.3 %SL, 49 % dorsal HL, eye diameter 5.5 %SL, 24 %HL; lateral line complete; anus about 1-2 eye diameters in front of anal-fin origin; 8.5 branched dorsal-fin rays; 5.5 branched anal-fin rays; caudal fin emarginate, with 9+8 branched rays; axillary pelvic lobe present; body with 8 broad bars, much wider than interspaces, except on caudal peduncle where interspaces are wider, irregularly shaped, the anterior ones not very distinct; 13 irregular black dots along lateral line, last one largest, immediately anterior to caudal-fin base; black bar at caudal-fin base complete but faint, except for conspicuous black vertically-elongate blotch occupying median half of fin base; dorsal-fin base with a small black blotch anteriorly, followed by a hyaline patch and a low faint grey elongate blotch (Ref. 36949).
