Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  9.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 10 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: northeastern coast of Queensland to vicinity of Pine Peak Island; extending to Torres Strait and eastern Arafura Sea.
Diagnosis:  Longest dorsal spine 1.9-2.2. in head length. No distinct median ridge extending from between posterior nostrils to anterior fourth or more of interorbital space. Tympanic spines small, about half length of postocular spines. Largest specimen (95 mm SL) (Ref 42181).
Biology:  Found inshore on reef areas (Ref. 7300). Benthic (Ref. 75154).
