Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Microspathodontinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 25 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: including Madeira, Azores, Ilheus Selvagens, Canary Islands, Cape Verde, and Senegal.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-17; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 13-14
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky inshore areas, often near sand; juveniles found in tide pools. Food comprised mainly of algae with associated minute invertebrates (Ref. 6760). Males protect the eggs deposited in nests (Ref. 6760).
