Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 0 - 4 m
Distribution:  Asia: Yunnan, China.
Diagnosis:  No externally visible eyes; no pigments nor scales. May be related to the epigean S. angustiporus (Ref. 44736).
Biology:  Cave-restricted species; prefers living and breeding in caves or underground rivers (Ref. 38444).
IUCN Red List Status: Critically Endangered (CR); Date assessed: 16 January 2024 (A2bc) Ref. (130435)
