Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Belize, Honduras, and Colombia (Ref. 26280). Also Navassa Island (Ref. 50108).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 19-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 16-17
Biology:  Inhabits patch reefs and coral heads in relatively deep water (Ref. 5521).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 October 2007 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
