Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin, in the Xingu River drainage at Cachoeira von Martius, Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 19-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-10. This species distinguished from T. centisquama in having a lower number of longitudinal scales (74-89 versus 113-129) and in having asymmetrical pectoral fins (versus nearly symmetrical fin) (Ref. 46528).
