Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  South America: Lower ParanĂ¡-La Plata River basin in Argentina.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Bottom spawner, 6 months incubation. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Endangered (EN); Date assessed: 19 February 2021 (B2ab(i,ii,iii)) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
